![]() But it's more lo-fi and sounds very much of it's time while Juno is more versatile. Poly-800 is a lot more limited compared to Alpha mainly thanks to it's oscillators which give just different flavors of square wave, but when filtered it's not so apparent, and filter sweeped horns, for example, sound sometimes even more lush than on Juno. A little more bank, Roland JX3P and even JX8P sound pretty good also… I still own my JX3P. IMHO there are tons of way more interesting synths (analog and digital) that sound much better and are faster to program in the same price range, Ensoniq ESQ1 for example. ![]() The Poly 800 takes my vote for worst sounding analog synth ever mass produced. ![]() ![]() Korg stuff never really sounds like Roland, if you like the sound of the Alpha Juno…you should stick to that. Also, very moronic, unorthodox design for holding its memory involving lots of large cell batteries…(MK1 anyway). I don't usually sell synths if they aren't worth much money but even after putting that work into it I couldn't find a use for it and let it go. All it really does is add hands-on control and extend the range of the resonance a bit, which isn't Moog-slaying by any definition. I had a Poly 800 and did all of the mods and while they added something different I wouldn't call it "great" or the difference between a bad synth and a good synth.
